Take your pants off on Valentine’s Day for charity.
Every February the Cupid’s Underwear Run takes place across the United States and Australia. This 1.5km cheeky fun run is held each year on valentine’s weekend. I know your probably thinking there are better ways to burn calories on Valentine’s Day right? A few extra for a great charity certainly won’t hurt. Run solo, with a partner or put together a group of friends you’re guaranteed to feel liberated as you raise funds and awareness for people suffering from Neurofibromatosis.
The Children’s Tumor Foundation is the world’s largest non-government organisation dedicated to neurofibromatosis research. There is currently no cure and very few options to assist in the treatment of NF (neurofibromatosis).
One of it's main goal is to further advance research and develop treatments and cures. Provide much needed support for NF sufferers as well as their families, develop clinical centres and guidelines for best practices, improve access to quality healthcare and of course increase public awareness.
NF (Neurofibromatosis) affects 1 in every 3,000 births, which is more than, Huntington’s disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy and cystic fibrosis combined and very little is known. This genetic disorder causes tumours to grow on nerves throughout the body, it can lead to blindness, deafness, learning disabilities and severe chronic pain.
Cupid Undie Run
This year alone 2016 the cupid underwear run raised 3.5+ million in the USA. Down under we’ve also joined in and can run the streets of Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast in your favourite underwear. Sprint, jog, walk or dance your way through to the finish line. There’s also a great after party to boot, after all why cant raising funds and awareness for charity be a bit cheeky.
